Family of 4 exploring bike trails

Trail System

Bring your bikes to Elkhorn Ridge and ride our 4.5 mile trail system. Forgot your bikes? The trail is perfect for hikers and walkers. Because of its stacked loop system, trail goers can choose their difficulty level by taking the shorter, lower loops. If you're looking for a thrill, follow all 4.5 miles along the rim of Polo Creek Canyon. The trails are open all year long and are great for snow-shoeing too! The trail also connects the resort with other Elkhorn Ridge locations. Take the trail to get to the golf course or jump on your bike and head to the Elkhorn Ridge Travel Center. Whether you're out for a short stroll with your dog, or you've got the whole family out on the bikes for an afternoon, the Elkhorn Ridge trail system is sure to keep you occupied and exercised.

Take a dip in the pool on a hot summer's day or sit in one of our hot-tubs and count the South Dakota stars at night. With a large selection of beer and wine in the general store, you're only a few steps away from an ice-cold drink. Don't forget to ask about our pool menu! Enjoy sandwich sliders a selection of tasty appetizers to tide you over until dinner-time. Whether you're catching the warm sun rays by the poolside or playing Marco Polo with the kids, the Elkhorn Ridge pool is a great way to spend an afternoon at the resort. After all, is any vacation complete without a day at the pool? We think not.

Historic Tour

Experience the spirit of the wild west on a historic Frawley Ranch tour. The Frawley Ranch consists of five historic homesteads, dating all the way back to 1877. Henry Frawley, a successful Deadwood lawyer, began acquiring failed homesteads during the land rush. Today, the ranch is on the National Historic Registry and is considered a unique treasure in the Black Hills. Take a guided tour of the Courtyard Barns, Centennial Valley Schoolhouse, Woolsey-Burton Dugout, and James Anderson Ranch. Browse through Frawley family artifacts at the Development Center, and end with lunch at the Frawley Fork. Tours are by appointment only so contact us to set up a time.

Not only can you play basketball, volleyball, tennis, and horseshoes at Elkhorn Ridge Resort, you can play the hottest new outdoor game called Pickleball! Pickleball is a paddle sport that combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis and it's fun for the whole family! If you forgot your basketball or tennis racket, stop by the front desk and ask for a rental. While the parents are playing a pick-up game, the kids can play on the playground near by. Elkhorn Ridge has an outdoor activity for the whole family - Fido too! Bring your pets and exercise them in our fenced dog park. No matter if you have two or ten in the family, we'll keep everyone busy with hours of entertainment.
